Master Plan and Project Phases
New hub under the silicon sky
The new Bangalore International Airport is envisioned to meet the growing aviation needs of the city through the development of a passenger friendly, well operated and financially sound airport.
Located east of the Bangalore-Hyderabad national highway (NH7), the new airport is 40 kilometres North of Bangalore’s central business district and 4 kilometres south of Devanahalli. The site spans an area of approximately 4000 acres and will comprise all the modern amenities a traveller is looking for in terms of convenience, comfort and connectivity.
Since the airport opened in May 2008, the airport has welcomed the introduction of five new international carriers into Bangalore making new destinations directly accessible to air travelers. These include Dragon Air, Tiger Airways, Oman Air, Air Mauritius and most recently Kingfisher Airlines to London and Colombo.
