Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), the owner and operator of the new Bengaluru International Airport, is a public limited company, registered under the Indian Companies Act. A private-public venture, the project realized so far and the upcoming phases are being built and will be operated by the company for the next 30 years with an option to continue for another 30 years.

Bengaluru International Airport- Gateway to South India
Bangalore, the IT capital of India now has an international airport on par with global standards. The Bengaluru International Airport can earn the city of Bangalore the unique distinction of becoming the regional hub for South India. With all the new international flights, it has already marked the beginning of better connectivity between India and the rest of the world.
Since the airport opened in May, the airport has welcomed the introduction of six new international carriers into Bangalore making new destinations directly accessible to air travelers. These include Dragon Air, Tiger Airways, Oman Air, Air Mauritius and most recently Kingfisher Airlines London and Jet Airways to New York via Brussels
In addition, the cargo facilities at the Bengaluru International Airport is used by domestic freighters apart from six international freighters which include Singapore, Lufthansa, Qatar, Etihad, Sri-Lankan Cargo, Air India and Emirates.
The Bengaluru International Airport is located 40 kilometers north of the city’s central business district. This will allow both the city as well as the airport to develop. It is spread over an area of approximately 4000 acres and besides the regular airport services it will offer a hotel, shopping mall, food courts and other convenience amenities in the upcoming project phases.
